STOP SCROLLING

POETRY OF DATA

Most things on social media are designed to keep us moving. One image leads to another. One thought disappears beneath the next.

Stop Scrolling is an invitation to interrupt that rhythm.

We have become accustomed to giving our attention to whatever appears next. Images, messages, opinions and fragments of other people’s lives pass through our hands in an endless stream. Even the moments in between are quickly filled.

This behaviour has become so familiar that we barely notice it. We reach for our phones without deciding to and look without always seeing. We rarely pause to understand what we consume or how it makes us feel.

In the process, we may be losing something essential: the ability to be fully present.

Presence requires time. It begins when we remain with an experience long enough for it to affect us. When we listen beyond immediate recognition. When we notice a sensation before explaining it, allow a thought to develop, or make space for an emotion that has not yet found words.

To feel, we first have to be here.Sound can invite us to stay with a moment, even in the middle of a feed. This is the idea behind Stop Scrolling.

Each release offers a short listening space created with sound and music by KLING KLANG KLONG.

Behind every excerpt is a much larger world. Some pieces emerge from generative systems. Some are derived from data. Others were created for a precise spatial, narrative or emotional purpose. Each one carries its own context, processes and layers of thought.

These ideas are an important part of the work. Knowing them can open another way of understanding a piece and deepen the experience of listening.

But you don’t need to know them to begin.

Stop Scrolling makes room for a pause in the feed. A few seconds to stay with what you hear and notice how it makes you feel. A small reminder that we can give something our attention without immediately moving on.

You can stop.

Listen,
feel what is here.
