Collide is a synaesthetic art installation for Dolby Gallery in San Francisco, created with onformative. We composed and spatialised the soundtrack from recorded cello improvisations.

The soundtrack of Collide is based on an open composition process. Three cellists used VR headsets to immerse themselves in the visual world of the animation and interpreted it in real time as a graphic score.
The players were visually separated, with each performer seeing a different part of the animation, while hearing the improvisations of the others. The final soundtrack was composed from those recordings and mixed in Dolby Atmos, on 54 speakers, and 17 subs.
