SOUND CONCEPT

The soundtrack of COLLIDE is an open composition which requires the improvisation of performers to the visuals. To do so, the musicians were given VR headsets to immerse themselves in the visual world of COLLIDE.

During their performance they interpreted the animation in real-time: the visuals of COLLIDE became a graphic score in motion, dictating the dynamism, intensity, rhythm and melodic choices of the players.

The soundtrack of Collide is based on an open composition process. Three cellists used VR headsets to immerse themselves in the visual world of the animation and interpreted it in real time as a graphic score.

The players were visually separated, with each performer seeing a different part of the animation, while hearing the improvisations of the others. The final soundtrack was composed from those recordings and mixed in Dolby Atmos, on 54 speakers, and 17 subs.
