MARIONETTE is a captivating part of the larger exhibition centered around the intriguing phenomenon of fakes. This thought-provoking audiovisual piece immerses visitors in an unsettling experience.

Upon entering the hall, visitors encounter an inverted sky of tents suspended from the ceiling, illuminated by flickering flashes. Thunder accompanies the lightning amidst an immersive rain soundscape. Simultaneously, a spatial piano piece weaves through the ambient soundscape. Its melancholic and warming character evokes a sense of reflection and contemplation.

The installation’s light patterns draw from tracking data of the initial rocket detonations in Ukraine on February 22, 2022. Curiously, mobile video recordings initially attributed these impacts to attacks in Aleppo. For viewers, discerning truth from fiction becomes an intricate challenge, as sound and image intertwine.

MARIONETTE serves as a poignant reminder of the need for critical media literacy in our ever-evolving information landscape.
