Tender Soul of Ocean: recall is a generative light and sound installation created with WHYIXD, where live wind data, future wind-field models and visitor movement shape an audiovisual environment in real time.

Tender Soul of Ocean: recall extends the Tender Soul of Ocean series initiated by WHYIXD in Keelung, Taiwan. Presented at Ars Electronica Festival 2025 and later at C-LAB Sound Festival: DIVERSONICS in Taipei, the installation transforms environmental data and visitor movement into a continuously shifting field of light and immersive sound.
An outdoor sensor feeds live wind conditions into the installation, while speculative future wind-field models introduce an additional temporal layer into the system. Together with real-time audience motion sensing, these inputs continuously reshape the audiovisual environment. Within this responsive structure, the generative spatial sound environment we developed allows sound and light to evolve through a shared behavioural logic.
The installation does not unfold as a fixed composition. As visitors move through the space, the soundscape subtly changes in density, movement and proximity. These inputs alter the sonic field, creating an adaptive sound environment in which perception becomes tied to shifting atmospheric conditions. The work combines generative sound, interactive sound and spatial audio into a shared perceptual system.
Our role focused on the creation of the generative spatial sound layer and its integration into the installation’s responsive structure. Through sound design, spatial composition and co-creation with WHYIXD, we shaped the audible behaviour of the work as part of its overall sound scenography, connecting environmental data, movement and spatial perception into one evolving system.
