For YOU ARE PART OF HISTORY at Haus der Geschichte Bonn, we created the overall sonic identity and developed the sound design, modular music, interface and feedback sounds for more than sixty media exhibits.

YOU ARE PART OF HISTORY is the new permanent exhibition at Haus der Geschichte Bonn. It presents Germany since 1945 through political change, everyday life, personal stories, contemporary witnesses and more than 3,800 objects.

The exhibition’s conceptual center is the idea that history is shaped by people, their actions and their lived experience. Visitors encounter this through historical objects, media installations and interactive stations that connect individual biography with German contemporary history.

Within this open exhibition environment, more than sixty media exhibits, including twenty-two interactives, create a high concentration of parallel sonic sources. We created an overall sonic identity to guide the sound decisions across the individual exhibits, so media audio, modular music, interface sounds, feedback sounds and room tones could belong to one consistent sonic language.

Our contribution focused on the sonic layer of the exhibition. We developed the signature sound, translated it into a spatial score for the exhibition environment, composed modular musical tracks, designed interaction-related interface and feedback sounds, and supported consulting and mixing for open room tones so the exhibition sound design could remain clear, accessible and acoustically legible.

PROJECT SCOPE
  • Role Of Sound
Sound establishes a consistent sonic identity across the exhibition, giving media audio, modular music, interface sounds, feedback sounds and room tones one shared language.
  • Mode Of Encounter
Visitors encounter Germany since 1945 through objects, personal stories, contemporary witnesses, historical media and interactive stations at Haus der Geschichte Bonn.
  • Sound Logic
A spatial score organizes how interface sounds, feedback sounds, media audio, modular musical tracks, room tones and acoustic zones coexist within the open exhibition architecture.
  • Source Material
The sound work responds to the exhibition’s historical content, media structure, accessibility requirements, visitor focus, noise ecology, room acoustics and the concentration of parallel sonic sources.
  • Production Role
We created the overall sonic identity, composed modular musical tracks for linear and interactive media, designed interface and feedback sounds, and supported consulting and mixing for open room tones.
  • Sound System
The sound is documented through media exhibits, room tones and acoustic zones; loudspeaker layout, channel count and playback hardware are not specified in the available sources.
